Vietnamese university calls for offers to train high-level staff in Holland
The Ho Chi Minh University of Technical Education (HCMCUTE) is offering to send some of its administrative staff abroad to spend a few weeks training at foreign institutions. Dutch universities are targeted as well.
This is an opportunity for the HCMCUTE to learn new or different management techniques as well as for Dutch Universities to develop ties and contact people at a leading institution in Vietnam's economic capital.
To kick of its 10-year strategy plan the HCMCUTE has budgeted 50,000 US dollars a year for over three years to train its high-level staff in Western countries. Dutch institutions are highly regarded in the area of training and have a competitive advantage to attract this investment. Up to six people will have all expenses paid, including course fees, to travel to the Netherlands twice a year, for 2-3 weeks and follow the curriculum proposed by a university that wins the contract.
The courses are to be held during the summer and winter breaks and should be in the domain of higher education management. Specifically targeted are education management or governance and education. Subjects of interest include training programs, curriculum development, staff development, research & technology transfer and international cooperation. The staff will be selected from the university council, the board of presidents, faculty and department heads etc. Only candidates that speak adequate English will be selected.
Although the description of the demands of the HCMCUTE seem rather general and two to three weeks seems rather limited to deal with all the subjects mentioned, it is important to see this as an opportunity for Dutch institutions. The Vietnamese partnership is open to discussion and we suggest that Dutch experts contact the Vietnamese counterparts at the HCMCUTE as soon as possible to create concrete plans and narrow down the subjects to be trained to feasible units that can be transferred in a period of three years.
Institutions that are interested should contact Ms Thai Ngo immediately with questions or a proposal for course structure and dates.
