Internship for Dutch and Vietnamese students

20 Jan 2009

Neso Vietnam stimulates and assists in the placing of Dutch interns in companies in Vietnam as well as Vietnamese interns in Dutch businesses in Vietnam.

The Netherlands has two systems of higher education: University of Research and University of Applied Sciences. During the study program, Dutch students are required to do internships at companies. Recently they are increasingly interested in Vietnam.

Neso Vietnam will assist Dutch and Vietnamese interns in finding internship positions in Dutch companies in Vietnam. Neso VN also helps Dutch companies and educational institutes in their quests for interns and internships

Internships can benefit both students and organizations in many aspects as described in the website of Vietnam-Netherlands Higher Education project.

2. Internship opportunities for Dutch students?

The ROC West Brabant (ROCWB) is currently looking for opportunities to link internships with companies and organizations in Vietnam. The ROCWB encourages its students to become world citizens. During the 3 month internship, students not only develop their skills at the work they are studying for, but also develop their sense of world-citizenship. ROCWB already have been able to open up links with Ghana, Mexico and Kenya and is considering Vietnam as a next exciting destination.

The ROC regional training center in West-Brabant, the Netherlands, manages (preparatory) secondary vocational education programs for around 26,000 students in 9 vocational colleges at over 50 locations. Studies offered include trade, administration and tourism, nursing, fashion, social work, childcare, agriculture. Also technical studies like mechanics, building, electrical, automation and communication technology are available.

Dutch interns can be profitable for both companies and the students. Companies would benefit from Dutch students in many ways. Firstly, the company can harvest new foreign knowledge and technique from the Dutch students. Secondly, it helps to promote the company’s image to foreign community. The company would also broaden its network with Dutch institutes.

The students, on the other hand, can experience living and working circumstances in their workplace as a part of their studies. This means that the work they do should be related to their studies and aimed at enhancing their social skills rather than their technical skills. Central guidance while the students are in Vietnam will be provided through ROCWB. The costs involved will be carried by the ROCWB and the students themselves. The company, however, might be expected to assist with living and boarding in some cases, depending on the local situation.

If the idea of having an intern at your company sounds interesting or you need more information, please feel free to contact a representative of the ROCWB via:
