Hanoi Amsterdam high school and the Netherlands have a special relationship. Not only does the school carry the Dutch capital’s name, but it was also established with the help of the Netherlands in 1985. The day of the event was filled with activities that emphasized the Netherlands as a high quality study destination for English courses. The vice principle of Hanoi Amsterdam high school, Ms Le Thi Oanh, opened the event expressing hope that this day would further strengthen the bonds between the two countries and that in the future further cooperation might ensue. She hopes to find a high school in Amsterdam to develop such bonds. Hanoi Amsterdam students are known to be top students and many have a strong grasp of English. Most of them will have the opportunity to study abroad. They joined a study in Holland quiz and they used the Nuffic Neso Study in Holland materials to answer the questions. Winners received a wooden set of Dutch small clogs. Two groups also competed with each other in a Dutch clog dance and performed plays. Both groups were judged by Dutch nationals including a Nuffic representative, Mr. Koen Yap. After the seminar, many students expressed their surprise that English is so widely used in the Netherlands.
