Utrecht university

Hi! I’m Linda, a student from the Netherlands doing an internship in exciting Ho Chi Minh City. As part of my masters at Utrecht University, I took off to Vietnam for 3 months. Currently I am working closely together with the University of Architecture and assist in developing a course outline. At the same time, a research serves as the thesis basis for the International Development Studies programme I am following. It is interesting to see the theory I studied at home being translated into reality here. Vietnam  is a very interesting country to live in; at the moment it is facing so many new and changing dynamics, that is fascinating to be part of that for a short period of time!
For any of you that are interested in coming to Vietnam, here some advice:

  • Enjoy the food, you will like it!
  • Try to learn some basic Vietnamese words, but you can manage with English..
  • Reserve some time to travel, it is a very diverse country...
  • Practice your karaoke skills.. it is the Vietnamese most favorite activity!

Finally try to adopt to the local circumstances as much as you can, it will  be an enrichment to your exchange experience.. I’m certain!
